Read A thankful heart is a faithful heart

In the day-to-day of my everyday life, I realize the importance of having a thankful heart. It is through gratitude that I can truly appreciate the blessings bestowed upon me. These blessings I respond to in faith by being faithful to them. I am faithful to my family, my work, my church, and ultimately, my God.

I honour my father and mother so that it may be well with me and so I may live long on the earth. A friend loves at all times, and a sibling is born to help in time of need. I give thanks for them and am faithful to them. I honour my spouse and love them. Being patient and kind, not jealous or boastful or proud or rude, is a choice I make to love and honour them. I do not demand my own way and do my best to not be irritable. And I keep no record of being wronged and rejoice whenever the truth wins out. I never give up and I never lose faith and I am always hopeful, and endure—God helping me—through every circumstance. I am faithful to those God has entrusted to me and blessed me with.

I am faithful to receive a living through the gifts, talents and abilities God has blessed me with. Gratitude for these gifts opens the door to use them with excellence. Whatever I do, I work with my whole heart as unto the Lord. I am not slothful in zeal, but fervent in spirit, working hard, so I will not be a burden to anyone. I make it my ambition to lead a quiet life and work with my hands. The favour of the Lord my God is upon me and He establishes the work of my hands.

I don’t give up meeting together, but I consider how to stir up others and be stirred up by others towards love and good works. Where two or three have gathered together in His name, He is there. I am faithful to encourage and build others up, and don't neglect to ask for prayer and help from them. How good and pleasant it is for people to gather in harmony! I am faithful for as long as it depends on me, to be at peace with everyone.

I know Jesus said, “If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.” I need to love Him more than my earliest love, my nearest love, and my dearest love. As I am faithful to God, I am faithful to them. As I am faithful to them, I am faithful to God.

A thankful heart is a faithful heart. Gratitude transforms my perspective and deepens my relationships with God and with others. By being faithful to my family, work, church, and—most importantly—to God, I can cultivate a heart filled with gratitude.

Today, I find strength, joy, and purpose in every step of my journey and remember a thankful heart is a faithful heart.

Reflection Questions to ask Holy Spirit:

  1. How can I cultivate a heart filled with gratitude in my day-to-day life, allowing it to deepen my relationships with God and others?
  2. In what ways am I being faithful to the blessings bestowed upon me, such as my family, work, church, and ultimately, God?
  3. How can I ensure that building a relationship with You remains my primary focus?
